The world's oldest surviving Bible, the Codex Sinaiticus is being digitised and its scattered parts are being reunited for the first time since its discovery 160 years ago. It is markedly different from its modern equivalent. These different parts are to be united online and, from July 2010, anyone, anywhere in the world with internet access will be able to view the complete text and read a translation.

For those who believe the Bible is the inerrant, unaltered word of God, there will be some very uncomfortable questions to answer. It shows there have been thousands of alterations to today's bible.
The Codex, probably the oldest Bible, also has books which are missing from the Authorised Version that most are familiar with today - also it does not have crucial verses relating to the Resurrection.

Hundreds of Bibles... Just adds to people's confusion if you ask me but if this older version states stuff that the King James left out then people will have to come to sterms with what they read to be the word of God was just the word of another human being.

We have to be careful though Nathan, that this isn't another Illuminati trick to replace the Bible or what's left of it altogether to bring in their own sinister version and try to show it as "original".

You could argue that this is the original bible and the King James' version is "the Illuminati trick to replace the original or what's left of it altogether to bring in their own sinister version and try to show it as "original".

Hey ya'll! I was watcing MJ's memorial and it was sooo touching!!!!

Moving on..........I too, question some of the things written in the bible. I do believe in Jesus Christ and that he died for my sins. I am a nondenominational christian. I have a personal relationship with God and have my own beliefs and that is more important to me than ascribing to religious rituals. Some people are so religious that they forget to actually have a relationship with God.

Church is meant for fellowship, evangelism, and communion and there are some good ones out here but I don't go as much anymore either because people get caught up in what everyone else is doing and some of them are big fashion shows. Going to a church will not get you into heaven.

Moreover, I respect other people's faith and whatever or whomever they choose to believe or don't believe in. It's a personal and individual thing.

Like most I onced believed in the stories contained in the bible but through continued research and looking at factual history the stories do not add up i.e. the 4,000 year old creation theory is not in line with the actual age of the human race. To be fair my spiritual beliefs are more inline with animism and universalism but deep down i'm a humanist at heart. In short I can respect people who believe in folk tales and unproven stories only if they do not feel superior to non believers and demonise them.

As with all religious scriptural books, the Bible should be read and interpreted spiritually. However, people for generations have made the mistake of interpreting it literally, which has lead to all kinds of problems.

It should be common sense to anyone that a lot of what is in the Bible is not actually literal.

And yes, it was written by fallible humans. Just like all religious texts.

Lets get serious Mr John Nash lol... with all due respect sir are you trying to insinuate that the jewish holocast, atlantic slave trade, world war I & II are all fiction? The bible stories are not to be taken literally they are there as a guide to good behaviour. In my opinion a man walking on water is more flawed than any scientific theory. Afterall science is based on nature and if it's natural it's real we just need to understand it more to get closer to the truth.

Can't it be argued that all history are just stories? You really don't know what to believe unless you were there yourself. Everyone puts their own spin on things. How do you differentiate fact from fiction, and please don't say science because it has flaws as well.

Respond to This

I did not say you said "fiction" to be factual I said "are you trying to INSINUATE", sir. There is no need to go into details to try and spin this around and i'm not talking about accuracy of events. It either happened or it did not!!!!!

Slavery, WWI&II and holocaust happened full stop. A man walking on water, dividing the red sea, a snake talking to a woman could not happen, isnt happening today and will never happen in the future. I dont need to be there to know that something is false or fiction it's called using common sense, logic, reflection and comparative reason.

John Nash said:
Never said it was fiction, please don't go overboard, geeze, LOL. My point is that specific details of every story are up to the story teller. There were a hell of a lot of stories left out about the slave trade is US HIStory. I'm sure it was deliberate. So am I to believe everything written in a US HIStory book is acurate? Apparantly not.
Again if you weren't there, you must rely upon what you read and decide if it is true or not. That is a fact. yes some stories may lend more credence, but ultimately, it is up to the reader to decide. Science is just a method of obtaining information in an orderly methodical way and is not always related to nature.

Your cool dude

John Nash said:
Damn. Must have struck a nerve. It's all gravy dude. Just trying to present a different perspective. I know slavery existed and the holocaust and such. There are individuals who don't believe it was as bad as it was told. I'm not saying that I believe that. This is a big world and subject to all sorts of opinions and differences.
