I think you need to hear it from real North East African like myself before you guys project your ideas on the people of Ethiopia or Somalia. I am from Eritrea, go look up the map where Eritrea is if you don't know. We don't consider ourselves anything but African. We are as native Africans as a Nigerian or Kenyan is. BTW, all this talk of Arab, or European mixing never happened in East Africa. It is all a lie to discredit Africans from having variation like any other race of people. Why is it that when you see broad faced Europeans they don't imply African admixture while if you see a native African who seem to posses fine features and soft textured hair they automatically assume Arab or European admixture? It is all nonsense. Majority of Eritreans, Ethiopians and Somalis consider themselves Native Africans and we dislike it heavily when people attribute our natural fine African features on foreign influence. It is simple really, just like a black haired Spaniard who doesn't remotely look like a blond Swedish but both are still considered European, then why it is hard for people to accept that an Eritrean or Ethiopian will look different from a Nigerian but are still native Africans? Only the people with colonial mentality will not understand this.
Anyway, we are native Africans and don't have a drop of non-African blood. We are just a natural variation of native Africans who adapted to our arid and dry environment. I hope this has enlightened your view on Eritreans, Ethiopians and Somalians.
Hey Derrick,
I found this article from race and history.com called 'Racial Label Surprises Many Latino Immigrants'.
